Kamryn's Apprenticeship

Kamryn and "Jazz"

After posting those super cute pictures I have to announce that Kamryn has given up dancing. She gave it her best, it just really isn't her thing with the sparkles and hair and all that.

Today was her first day at her summer apprenticeship at a local horse boarding farm! She is going to be going everyday until the end of the week.

In just one week she will learn:
To catch, halter, groom and tack up the horses.

To clean the horse's stall, how different feeds work and general stable and horsemanship knowledge.

To ride safely and in control.

Each student will be able to control the horse through different maneuvers. Besides riding, they will learn to work the horses on the long line, care for the horse's legs and bathe them.

She is in HEAVEN! When she came home this afternoon she kept smelling her hands because they still smelled like the horse she took care of today. (gross!)

After the apprenticeship, she will be taking riding lessons about every other week. She is already begging for a horse of her own. I'm afraid of what we are getting ourselves into!

Here is a picture of when Kamryn got her first taste of being IN a rodeo. She won first place in the "mutton bustin" at the rodeo in Star Valley last summer. She likes to ride horses much better than sheep though.

Independents Day

For the 4th of July, we went to Ryan and Elizabeths house. We met up in the afternoon and went to Provo's Freedom Festival. The kids really enjoyed seeing everyone dressed up. Then we went back to their house for dinner and fireworks.

Stafford and Mason enjoying snow cones at the festival.

Mason holding his ears because the fireworks were loud.

When it started getting dark we walked and found a spot to watch the big firework show. The kids had fun rolling down the grass hills while we waited for them to start.

4th post in one day

My two sleepy girls. We drove all night Monday night and pulled in around 8am. None of us slept very well in the car. At 6:30pm this is where Stafford and I find the girls. I wish they were always this cute with each other.

California Getaway- Part III

On Monday we went to Downtown Disney and Goofy's Kitchen. So our kids could get a taste of Disney with out the cost, hassle and stress of having three young kids in the actual park.

It was Quintons birthday!

California Getaway - Part II

On Sunday we went to the beach. The water was warm, but it was really windy so the waves were big. That was great for Quin who wanted to buggy board, not so great for those of us that just wanted to swim.

On the way to the beach Mason was bored and was acting silly. He used one of his dvd cases for a hat. He kept saying "Mom, like my hat?" "Quin, like my hat?"
It was too windy for Lillian, so she just snuggled up with a towel on the blanket.

The wind didn't bother the boys. Their goal was to dig a big hole. It ended up being about 3.5'x2' then started filling with water.

We all got just the right amount of sun, no sunburns. We were there for only a few hours and all had our fill.
After the beach we met back up with the family, ate, played games and visited.

California Getaway - part I

We went on a fun family trip to California this last weekend. We invited my brother Quinton to come since it was over his birthday, and it's always nice to have an extra set of hands with three kids! We left Thursday, stopped half way on the way there. Friday we arrived and visited with family. Saturday was Thomas and Sharolyn's wedding (the reason for the trip) They got married in the Newport Beach Temple, which was so beautiful! For their reception they had a Hawaiian style Luau. We all had such a fun time!
Kamryn and Lillian became best friends with Sharolyn's niece. (I'm not going to even try to spell her beautiful Hawaiian name)

Mason loved all the food! He sat on my lap and ate and ate and ate...

Lillian helped herself to some cake, and sat across the room from us to eat it so we wouldn't know. I went to take a picture of her, and this is what she did when she saw me-

We all danced a lot!
